Happy Valentine's Day! With love flying around and the topic of husbands, families, etc. we wanted to touch upon a hot topic that has recently come up in conversation with other Sisters in Shape.
That topic, is GUILT.

Our fitness community posed the question....Does anyone fight with guilt over training? Taking time for yourself while your kids are being watched? Has anyone ever considered QUITTING out of guilt? Is this a battle you are, or have fought before?
I put together a few of my own thoughts to share with you all, read on to hear what I think about guilty tendencies.
HOW CAN MOM FIND HER GROOVE?
Ready to hear the typical how to “do it all tips”? You know, prep your food, get up early, ask for help? Ugh, if I read those “should” tips one more time I think I’d “should-all-over” the person who said it! Lol….maybe that’s just shot nerves from trying to “do it all”.
So this list is going to take a different route. One that is more empowering, supportive and realistic. You know, more “Sisters In Shape” ;) These tips were the themes of a 2000+ word conversation in our community, from women that are truly incredible and truly amazing moms.
Do these resonate with you a bit more than the “should” list?
1. Acknowledge the guilt. Say “hello” to it. Even walk forward with it.
Guilt is a feeling that can’t be food prepped away. There’s been numerous nights I’ve tucked my kids into bed, felt the guilt rise in my throat as I look at their peaceful sleeping face, and thought about how I didn’t __________ enough today for them.
That’s guilt. It’s a feeling not a fact. So I say to it, “Hello feeling. I’m going to ignore you because I’m watching my beautiful baby’s face and THAT is a fact.”
2. Just like you want your family’s happiness, they want yours. Let them give you that.
A number of women in our community were able to explain how they ditched the guilt when they finally accepted that their fitness was important to their happiness AND their family wanted them to be happy. So their guilt diminished as they let their family show them love & grant mommy some happiness by having some time in her week carved out for her physical health.

Coach Val & her son flex it up!
So ladies, how are you managing motherhood, work and fitness? Let's share all of our ideas so all of us can be healthy and happy! It's time to find our groove!
xoxo
