WEEK 4: BEGINNING A STRENGTH PROGRAM

The feeling of strength, physical & emotional strength, to me is epitomized when I pick up the weights.  Dumbbells & barbells are my tools, and the gym (yes my home gym!) is my coliseum.

A run can be freeing, a weight lifting session can be epic.

I am many months away from being a dominant force in any gym setting; however, I plan to be one again and so I START NOW…HERE.

So this week, after my doctor's OK, I designed myself a Beginner Strength Training program that takes a few aspects from my favorite magazine (GORGO Women’s Fitness Mag), as well as my personal experience and research.

You can download the day-by-day Beginner Strength Program with photo demonstrations by clicking HERE.  This can be done at home with some basic fitness equipment or at the gym.

EXERCISE: WEEK 4

In reading through the introductory notes & program overview in the Beginner Strength Program (and my weekly post-partum blog), you'll notice I follow a gradual process to "becoming fit".  This week I was able to complete 2 sets of my Beginner Strength Program on Day 1-3 and it felt GOOD.  So on Day 5-7 I did 3 sets of the program.  However, by day 7 my body was telling me I was “pushing it”.  So I listened…and went back to 2 sets.

I’ll get to 4 sets, eventually, because I show up – everyday.

I’ll get to an advanced level of weight lifting, eventually, because I show up – everyday.

By listening to my body and respecting what it is telling me I feel confident I’ll make it for the long-haul.

NUTRITION: WEEK 4

I’ve caught a groove with my nutrition this past week.  This means that I have determined what works for me with my goals and I’ve been eating in this rhythm each day.

I’ll go into more depth on this in next week’s blog.  In the meantime, I’ve put an example couple of days of what I eat so you can get a sense of how I am fuelling my body – a body that is breastfeeding my newborn, running a household and passionately pursing my love of sharing health/fitness with others.

If you would like more information on the products I use check out my WEEK 2 Blog which describes what products I use and why.  If you'd like to discuss including Isagenix products in your lifestyle diet, I'd love to chat with you about that - contact me at erica@sisinshape.com to set up a call.  I can't share these products enough!
